Celtic’s clash with Dundee has been postponed as Storm Eowyn plays havoc with sporting fixtures in Scotland. The storm has battered British shores over the past 24 hours, with Scotland having bore the brunt of the damage. Celtic's home stadium of Parkhead has sustained some damage, with the club confirming that assessments would be made ahead of Saturday’s clash with Dundee.
And just hours before kick-off, it has been confirmed that the game has been postponed for next month. A statement from Celtic read: “Today’s scheduled Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Dundee at Celtic Park has been called off. “Unfortunately, due to the stadium damage sustained yesterday we have been advised that we are unable to proceed with today’s match. While clearly this is disappointing, the safety of our supporters will always be our priority. The rearranged fixture will take place on February 5, 2025 with a 7.45pm kick-off.”.
Celtic are not the only Scottish club that have seen damage to their home stadium. Their fierce rivals Rangers also had plenty to deal with as footage showed part of the roof of Ibrox being ripped off. The Scottish giants - who fell to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in midweek - are not at home this weekend. Instead, they are due to play away to Dundee United on Sunday before their next home game against Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday evening.
Minnows Morton have also have roof damage to deal with after the storm but their game away to Queen’s Park is still set to go ahead. Morton general manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald said: “Today’s storm has caused significant damage at the stadium and also to our local community.
