Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer, 42, has opened up about her rocky romantic journey after parting ways with her ex-husband, Jordan Wyn-Jones, following 16 months of wedded bliss. The Latin dance whiz, who is now contentedly dating Simon Davidson, was once hitched to fellow Strictly alum Kevin Clifton, ending in a highly publicised split in 2018 due to their shared spotlight on the BBC series.
Prior to her romance with Kevin, Karen was married to Matthew Hauer for nine years until their separation in 2009. Before stepping into the game show arena on Richard Osman's House of Games this week, she humorously likened herself to Hollywood icons like Elizabeth Taylor and Jennifer Lopez, known for their multiple trips down the aisle. In a candid chat with The Telegraph last December, Karen quipped: "I'm like the new Liz Taylor and J-Lo. I've been around the park for a couple of weddings a couple of times. I've grown from it.".
On a more poignant note, she revealed her decision to dramatically alter her appearance, shedding her lengthy raven tresses for a shorter do, a change inspired by the personal trials she faced post-split from Kevin, now in a happy relationship with his Strictly co-star, Stacey Dooley. Reflecting on her transformation, Karen said: "I was going through a lot personally, and I needed to shed. Shed skin, shed hair. It was almost like a rebirth for me.", reports Birmingham Live.
"Amazing transition, but also to show people as well that you don't need to have long, glamorous hair to be beautiful.". Things are on the up for Karen since she started dating her current beau Simon, marking their one-year milestone this past November. Chatting with The Mirror, she couldn't help but sing Simon's praises, hinting she might just be open to tying the knot once more, all the while admitting she's utterly "smitten" with her latest love.
