Ear, Nose and Throat consultant Matthew Isles was working at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, in Stafford before he was arrested and charged.
A Royal Stoke spokesman said: "Following an investigation, Staffordshire Police have confirmed that Matthew Isles has been charged with engaging in sexual communication with a child.
Until his arrest Matthew Isles worked as an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) consultant at Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital.
A disgraced surgeon who has pleaded guilty to trying to 'engage in sexual communication with a child' was working at an NHS hospital until his arrest on Monday.
He said: "Matthew Isles, 52, from the Cheadle area, has pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
