An email sent to customers read: “To ensure we’re able to keep bringing out the best value and convenience, we’ve taken the decision to remove the pay in-store feature from the Tesco app.
Tesco has announced it will scrap its pay-in-store feature from its Clubcard app, leaving many shoppers needing to pay by alternative means.
A Tesco spokesman said: “This small-scale pilot in one store was designed to offer additional support to parents and carers through free and impartial advice, as part of a wider concept offering a range of health and wellbeing services.”.
The supermarket has said that customers will no longer be able to pay using the system, with the feature being “phased out” by March 7.
Another added: “Use it daily.. it’s pretty convenient to me, no need to scan Clubcard.. just pay with the app, quite a strange move from Tesco.”.
