Tesco reveals the UK’s favourite meal deal of 2024 — with a ‘distressing’ new item

The nation’s favourite Tesco meal deal has been revealed, and a new lunch has taken the crown for 2024. Most shoppers opted for: a Chicken Club sandwich, an Egg Protein Pot, and a Coca-Cola. It’s a move away from the previous meal deal favourite, which held the title for two years running: a Sausage Bacon & Egg Triple sandwich, McCoy’s Flame Grilled Steak crisps and a refreshing Coca-Cola.

But while a chicken sandwich is a solid choice, and there’s no drink quite as beloved as Coke, the egg protein is a divisive choice. Sold in various iterations in British supermarkets and coffee chains, and it seems the nation can be split into two halves: those who like egg protein pots, and those who definitely don’t.

Over on Reddit, one commenter said that people who eat the egg pot ‘scare’ them, while X user Alice Ola likened their introduction to the Tesco meal deal as akin to the apocalypse. ‘They’re selling two boiled eggs in a container as part of Tesco meal deal,’ she wrote. ‘These are the last days. I’m telling you.’.
