Anticipation is growing for The Last of Us Season 2. Following the success of its first season in January 2023, the HBO series has already won several awards. Now, the trailer for the highly anticipated next instalment has arrived. A flurry of casting announcements has already been made and fans are eagerly anticipating Season 2. Catherine O'Hara (yes, from Schitt's Creek) is among the exciting additions, joining the cast in an undisclosed role.
Based on the bestselling video game series of the same name, the show takes place in a dystopian future where infected zombies roam America and law and order have collapsed. Despite the dangers lurking outside designated quarantined zones, Joel (Pedro Pascal) agrees to take Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across the country on a journey that might be the key to saving all of humanity.

With announcements coming thick and fast about season two, here’s what we know: from the cast to the plot. While season one adapted the entire first game, season two will focus on only part of the second, according to creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
The story picks up where the first season left off, with Joel and Ellie now living in the town of Jackson, Wyoming, four years later. However, their peaceful lives are shattered when they encounter Abby, a young woman driven by a quest for revenge. Whatever the other potential differences, the four-ish year time jump from the second game will remain. While Ellie is around 14 in the first game, she’s 18 to 19 in the second. "I'll be 20, probably by the time we shoot that, and I'll be playing 19," Bella Ramsey told the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "So yeah, I will be closer to my age.".
