If you love the thrill of air travel but could do without the turbulence and questionable food, this bizarre hotel room might be for you. At the Corendon Amsterdam New-West, you can get a full flight experience without ever taking off. Inside the hotel’s aptly named 737 Suite, you can find an actual Boeing 737-8000 aircraft. No, it hasn’t crash-landed. It’s the centre-piece of the 1,300-square-foot top-floor hotel room.

The Corendon Amsterdam New-West Hotel is located on the outskirts of Amsterdam in The Netherlands, just 30 minutes from the central station and 15 minutes to Musemplein, Amsterdam’s famous Museum quarter. A one-night stay in the airplane hotel suite starts at €299 (£250) for two people. In addition to the unusual aviation feature, the suite boasts a king-size bed and a spacious bathroom complete with a bathtub, rain shower and audio speaker.

The Corendon also features a Caribbean restaurant, bar and lounge and a spa, which can be booked at an additional cost of €49 per person. The hotel shared a video of the suite on TikTok, writing: ‘You know what’s cooler than having a jacuzzi in your hotel room? A cockpit of a Boeing 737.’. While it might seem a little odd, Corendon is actually a Turkish-based airline, who have branched out into the hotel business.

One TikToker, @guyzer, who recently visited the suite dubbed it the ‘craziest hotel room’. In a video tour of the room, he films the ‘standard’ hotel room items, including a wardrobe, seats, TV area and bed, before panning to reveal the plane in the middle of the room. He described it as: ‘Just a fully functioning plane with seats and lights that turn on and a full cockpit that you can go into and fiddle with.’.

The video, which has gained 2.1 million likes, has left viewers in disbelief, with one user claiming it’s ‘a whole new level of crazy’. Another user added: ‘This feels like a dream.’. Others weren’t as struck by the concept. One user asked: ‘But why? I don’t get it.’ Another added: ‘I’d be so creeped out sleeping next to that.’. Meanwhile, some pondered what use the plane could serve. ‘Would that count as the mile-high club?’ one user asked.

The unusual suite has also been praised by guests on Tripadvisor. One traveller who visited in 2022 described the suite as ‘amazing’, leaving it a five-star review. ‘The 737 Suite is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
