Nude lipsticks never go out of fashion, and to add to the plethora of neutral lip products on the beauty market, as well as my ever-expanding collection, comes the return of MAC’s Yash lipstick. The Macximal Silky Matte Lipstick shade may sound familiar, and you would be right in thinking this, as the beauty brand previously released matte lippy in Yash, but discontinued the product in September 2016.

It is unknown exactly why Yash was discontinued, there is speculation it was due to the brand reformulating the product. Whatever the reason may be, I am pleased to see the shade has made a comeback almost 10 years later. MAC’s Maximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Yash was discontinued in 2016, but it is now back better than ever. The cool neutral tone is formulated in a matte formula that is super soft on the lips, has a strong pigment, and offers up to 12 hours of wear.
The Matte Lipstick in Yash comes after the release of MAC’s Disney collection. The Yash colourway is a cool, pinky-nude shade that is super versatile for all skin types. A matte formula typically offers a stronger pigment, and this rings true for the new formula too as it promises 12 hours of wear. This formulation offers a silky smooth finish that is soft and gentle on your lips, without drying the lips. In fact, MAC’s lipstick has been formulated with organic cocoa and shea butter, which is ultra nourishing.
The Yash lipstick is not only non-flaky, but it doesn’t feather or bleed outside of the lips. The lipstick can be worn day or night because it is such a versatile shade. It can be worn on its own, paired with a lip liner to add extra dimension, which is key to prevent a neutral tone from looking flat on the lips. I swear by a lip liner to help a lipstick stay put, prevent any bleeding, accentuate my lip shape, but also create an ombre finish. I recommend pairing with the Cork or Striped Down lipliner from MAC, to complement the muted tone.
Alternatively, layer the matte lipstick under a lip gloss to accentuate your pout. This lipstick retails for £25, which some may think is a hefty sum for a lipstick. However, I think it is a worthy investment, especially because I get a lot of wear out of my trusted MAC lipsticks. This matte lipstick is available to shop from MAC, but whether it will be available from other stockists remains unknown. Considering the Yash lipstick has been discontinued, I predict it will sell out fast, so you will want to shop quickly to secure the goods.
