Tina Knowles defends daughter Beyonce’s NFL half-time performance

Tina Knowles has defended her daughter Beyonce’s NFL half-time performance on Christmas Day after it received some criticism online. The 13-minute set saw the US superstar bring out surprise musical guests Post Malone, Shaboozey and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter in what was her first live performance since the release of Grammy-nominated, country-themed album Cowboy Carter.
After the performance received some pushback online, Knowles took to Instagram to reshare a post which said Beyonce’s music was “proof” that people will “always have some negative (thing) to say” regardless of how talented you are. Beyonce’s mother wrote: “My sentiments exactly! It is mind-boggling to me that you would take your precious Christmas day and watch a performance of someone you hate and you don’t think has talent so that you can go talk ish about it later.”.
She suggested those who were not fans should switch to another channel if they did not want to watch the performance. Knowles, 70, added: “I have learned so much from her warrior spirit, of when they go low I work harder ‘No weapon formed against me shall prosper’.”.
Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis was among those to support Knowles, writing: “This” and adding heart and fire emojis. Hidden Figures actress Octavia Spencer added: “All. Of. This!”. Knowles worked as a stylist for superstar girl group Destiny’s Child and has helped Beyonce with outfits during her solo career along with running a fashion brand with her daughter.
