Tom Ford fans can get their hands on a new fragrance from the iconic brand - which launched earlier this week. Bois Pacifique by Tom Ford is a woody aromatic scent that ties in spice. It opens up with cardamom, akigalawood (reminiscent of patchouli with a hint of pepper) and turmeric in the top notes before settling into a heart of frankincense, oak, iris, white sandalwood and cedar. The base is a simple blend of two notes: amber and vanilla.
It is primarily aimed at men although it could be popular with those who are drawn to unisex scents. It comes in two sizes, 50ml for £108 and 100ml for £152. Since it's only just hit the UK market, it's no surprise that it hasn't pulled in any reviews on retailers just yet. Over on global fragrance site Fragrantica it has managed to pull in some reviews though.
One person said: "Another solid offering by Tom Ford. A nice woody, balsamic, resinous fragrance that while comforting and easy to understand, has a nice amount of freshness and depth that kept pulling me back in for sniff after sniff. While I think the overall profile is a bit more on the mature side, this would be a fantastic office or day-to-day fragrance for anyone 30+.". A second wrote: "Just bought a bottle after first sniff. Reminds me of a lot of stuff I love - a bit cedar-y, incense-y, church-y - but with a really nice light tang. Is it the turmeric? Keeps making me think of kaffir lime. I also get a lot of the iris on my skin which is an unexpected twist.".
A third added: "A beautiful lightly sweetened woods, with frankincense making a big appearance and creating an ambery incense. Such a good release from Tom Ford!". Not everyone is so impressed though, one fragrance fan complained the longevity was lacking. They said: "Bois Pacifique smells almost exactly like freshly sprayed Wonderwood by Comme des Garcons, only a bit sweeter. And just like Wonderwood, which smells great btw, it doesn't have great projection or longevity - especially given the price tag.".
