Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke has hit back at Jamie Carragher's claim that Ange Postecoglou must adapt his attacking methods to bring success to the club. Spurs have suffered from an inconsistent campaign after seven wins and seven defeats in the Premier League this term.
Postecoglou's team have scored 36 goals - the second highest in the top flight - but have shown huge vulnerabilities at the other end too, with their chaotic 4-3 win over Manchester United in midweek summing up their season. The nature of that victory, which saw Spurs go 3-0 up before two calamitous mistakes allowed United back into the game, led to stern criticism from Carragher, who slammed Tottenham's game management under Postecoglou and insisted he needed to adapt his tactics to help the team see out games.
But Solanke disagreed with Carragher's verdict and said the players "loved" the Australian's style of play - insisting the team can win trophies once they find more consistency to their play. "Ange is very unique in the way he plays and we love it. The way he plays, it suits us," Solanke told the PA news agency. “It is a great style, especially for me being a striker to play in. Like I said, we haven’t been consistent enough this season. We’ve just come off not the greatest run but I feel we’re building towards that consistency.
"We’re like a family, we all want to achieve the same thing and every day we’re on the training ground working towards our goals. Ultimately we want to win stuff and we’re all on the same wave length. We all back each other, all believe in each other, like I said, we’re all on the same page.
