Tottenham working on Antonin Kinksy clearance in hope new goalkeeper can be in squad for Liverpool clash Tottenham are hopeful that new signing Antonin Kinksy will receive a work permit on Tuesday, leaving him available to be in the squad for Wednesday's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool.

Brandon Austin made his long-awaited Spurs debut in Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, with Vicario's understudy Fraser Forster unavailable through illness, and the academy graduate is in contention to keep his place for Liverpool's visit on his 26th birthday.

Spurs announced the signing of the 21-year-old goalkeeper from Slavia Prague, in a deal worth around £12.5million, on Sunday morning but he is not officially allowed to train with his new team-mates or play until being granted the permit.

But Vicario is not set to be fit until late February after surgery on a fractured foot in November, with Kinsky one of three options available to head coach Ange Postecoglou in the meantime.

The veteran initially depuitised well for Vicario but twice made mistakes leading to goals in the 4-3 win over Manchester United last month, and is out of contract in the summer.
