Trent Alexander-Arnold transfer decision could 'cost Man Utd £50m windfall'

Should Trent Alexander-Arnold decide to snub Real Madrid in favour of Liverpool, Manchester United would kiss goodbye to a potential £50million windfall. The mammoth figure is regarding the reported fee that the Spanish giants are plotting to bid for Diogo Dalot in their search for a right-back, according to i Sport.
With Dani Carvajal having suffered an ACL injury in October, the Champions League holders have been on the lookout for a replacement, with the Liverpool star at the top of their list. Dalot, who has started every Premier League game this season for Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim, could prove to be a backup option for Madrid if they fail to lure Alexander-Arnold.
The Athletic reported earlier this week that the Premier League leaders rebuffed an approach for their vice-captain from Madrid. The 26-year-old is free to talk to other clubs and even agree a pre-contract agreement, due to his current deal expiring this summer. Liverpool are said to "retain hope" that he signs a contract extension with discussions ongoing.
Declining to speak publicly on his contract matters, unlike his team-mate Mohamed Salah, little has been done to quell the worries of Reds' fans that they may soon say goodbye to their boyhood hero. Fielding questions on the future of Alexander-Arnold, Salah, and Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool boss Arne Slot said he knows the right-back will be in action against Manchester United on Sunday. His answer came in response when asked if he'd still be a Liverpool player by the end of the January transfer window.
