Tributes to ‘sweet and beautiful’ boy, 5, found dead at home in ‘serious incident’

Tributes have been paid to a ‘sweet and beautiful’ five-year-old boy found dead at home as a woman is arrested for murder. Lincoln Button was found by police officers in his home in South Ockendon, Essex, on Sunday following reports of a ‘serious incident’.

Emergency services, including police officers and medics, were called to the address shortly after 3pm on Sunday, 15 December, following reports of serious concerns for the welfare of a child and a woman. Young Victim Named Essex Police have today confirmed the boy???s identity as Lincoln Button, a Year 1 pupil at Bonnygate Primary School in South Ockendon, part of the Osborne Co-operative Academy Trust. Lincoln???s family described him as: ???A cherished, loved, sweet, beautiful young soul who was adored by all and will be sorely missed every day.??? Community Mourning In a heartfelt statement, Bonnygate Primary School described Lincoln as a ???cheeky, smiley, happy boy who was loved fondly by our Bonnygate family.??? The school added: ???His love for school, laughter, and cuddles will be remembered and missed dearly. We are working closely with the authorities and being supported by Thurrock Council???s education team to help those within the community come to terms with this tragic loss.??? Police Investigation Essex Police confirmed that the woman at the scene was taken to hospital for treatment, where her condition improved. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Authorities have stated that they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Alan Blakesley, leading the investigation, assured the public: ???This remains an extremely sensitive and complex investigation, which we are carrying out with the care, compassion, and professionalism that Lincoln???s family and the wider public would expect.???]

He was declared dead while a woman was taken to hospital, and has since been arrested on suspicion of murder. Tributes have been paid for Lincoln, who was also known as ‘Link’, from his devastated family. They said: ‘Link was a cherished, loved, sweet, beautiful young soul who was adored by all and will be sorely missed every day.’.

Bonnygate Primary School, where Lincoln was a Year One student, described him as a ‘cheeky, smiley, happy boy’. They said: ‘His love for school, laughter and cuddles will be remembered and missed dearly. ‘The school is working closely with the authorities and is being supported by Thurrock Council’s education team, who offer support and advice to schools over sensitive issues.

‘The school’s priority is to support those within the community who need help to come to terms with this tragic loss.’. Detective Chief Inspector Alan Blakesley, who is leading the Essex Police investigation, said: ‘This remains an extremely sensitive and complex investigation which we are carrying out with the care, compassion and professionalism that I know Lincoln’s family – and the wider public – would expect.
