One celebrity was forced to quit Netflix's Celebrity Bear Hunt just days into the challenge after sustaining an injury. The new show, fronted by Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls, premiered on Netflix on 5 February. The series sees 12 famous contestants left to fend for themselves in the Costa Rican jungle while trying to escape being caught by survivalist Bear and avoid elimination. Among the famous faces who took part in Celebrity Bear Hunt is ex-tennis champion Boris Becker. He unfortunately only made it to episode four of the show, due to a painful injury which left him requiring surgery.

In the episode, he gathered his celebrity co-stars and informed them he'd be leaving the jungle immediately to seek medical attention. "Come around, please. I have to say something. So guys, the doctor advised me that I have torn my meniscus. And I have a ligament sprain of my MCL. And so the whole medical team advised me to be out, to stop," Boris told them. The tennis legend broke down in tears as he said goodbye to his fellow competitors, saying: "I wish I could be with you, but I think we learned from each other. It's about not falling down, it's about overcoming and standing up again.".

Speaking to the camera, Boris shared: "I feel numb, I feel disappointed, really gutted. I really wanted to be in the Bear Hunt, to be chased by the great man. "Well, being a tennis player, injury is your middle name. I've had about 15 surgeries by now. You know, it's the wear and tear. It's really the price you pay for being a professional athlete. And you know, I'm not a quitter. I can take pain but there's a limit when you have a real injury.".

Boris appeared on the TV show alongside Joe Thomas, Kola Bokinni, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Leomie Anderson, Lottie Moss, Mel B, Shirley Ballas, Steph McGovern, Una Healy, Big Zuu, and Danny Cipriani. He had shared his excitement on social media ahead of the Netflix series launching, telling fans on Instagram: "I’m so excited to finally share this with you! I’ve always been a huge @beargrylls fan and I was so trilled to be part of this survival challenge in Costa Rica!.
