Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk had to be pulled away from each other after a lengthy stare off descended into a shouting match at their final press conference. The pair locked eyes for over 10 minutes before they started exchanging insults in fiery scenes ahead of their huge rematch this weekend. Fury, 36, refused to back away and Usyk never flinched in the bizarre finish to what had been a rather tame final media showdown between the pair.
Usyk, 37, had arrived into the press conference with a live band and large group of singers. The two fighters gave brief answers with Fury claiming he is done with the jokes and laughs as he looks for revenge against the man who handed him his first defeat back in May.
He said: “I’m going to dish out a lot of pain, put this f***er in the hurt locker for sure. I’ve got nothing to say apart from there will be a whole lot hurt and pain. The talking is done. “The first fight I talked, I joked. All my career. This time I’m serious and I’m going to do some damage.”.
The only drama came at the end of the event as the pair faced off. The cameras were everywhere as those in the room tried to get a good vantage point as the pair faced off. But they had plenty of time to get their shot as they stared each other down for what felt like an age.
