UFC legend Michael Bisping removed his fake eye during a recent interview with with middleweight star Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov. Magomedov boasts an undefeated record of 15-0 inside the cage and has been a breath of fresh air since signing with the UFC back in 2023. With wins over Bruno Silva, Antonio Trocoli and Michal Oleksiejczuk, 'Bullet' scored the most impressive of his career in his last outing, knocking out Armen Petrosyan with a double spinning backfist.
On Saturday night, Magomedov faces the toughest test of his career against Michael ‘Venom’ Page in Riyadh. In the build-up to the middleweight showdown, Bisping - who is set to serve as a commentator for the event - sat down with the undefeated star for a pre-fight interview. 'Bullet' suffered an injury early on in his career that went untreated and several surgeries reportedly left him with just 60 per cent vision in his right eye. The Dagestan native even nearly considered hanging up the gloves due to the horrific injury. Bisping can relate to what Magomedov is going through after he was famously blinded during a 2013 fight with Vitor Belfort.
The pair came face-to-face on Bisping's YouTube channel and seemingly bonded over their similar issue. They shared a warm embrace towards the back end of the video with 'The Count' even removing his eye cover before branding the pair 'brothers.'. Bisping - a former UFC middleweight champion - asked the Russian if he ever considered getting a similar cover, but the 'Bullet' was quick to shoot down the idea. “It doesn’t matter,” Bisping said. “You look good, you own it. I’m a p****, everybody was bullying me online, saying mean things that hurt my feelings so I tried to hide it.”.
Magomedov revealed Bisping inspired him to carry on with his condition after he saw the British legend become a world champion. “It’s incredible, man, what you’ve achieved so far,” Bisping told Magomedov during a touching exchange. “I know what you’re going to do in the future and you should be very proud, I’m inspired by you, I really am and I truly mean that.” Following the Brit's comments, the Russian said: “You are a legend. Honestly, if it wasn’t for you, I probably would have stopped fighting.”.
The Russian's upcoming opponent, Page, will be moving up a weight class to challenge the undefeated prospect and comes into the clash off the back of a narrow defeat against Ian Machado Garry. This weekend's blockbuster card will be headlined by a middleweight clash between Israel Adesanya and Nassourdine Imavov. 'The Last Stylebender' will be looking to get back in the win column following back-to-back losses against Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis, while Imavov is hoping to secure the biggest win of his career against the former two-time champion.
