The three were combined in 1606 to represent the nations of England, Ireland and Scotland respectively, meaning it now captures only two of the four modern home nations, as the St Patrick's cross hails from the now Republic of Ireland and is viewed by some as a symbol of British oppression.
Petition author Mr Sleeman has previously shared what a Welsh-inclusive flag could look like, with pictures showing him posing with a red, white, blue and green flag.
Activists have launched a campaign to include Wales on the iconic flag, which incorporates the colours of the St George's, St Patrick's and St Andrew's crosses.
