A 2013 science-fiction drama that fans praised as 'the best film I've seen all year' is now available to watch at home. Originally released on Valentine's Day, the romantic comedy follows Theodore Twombly, a lonely divorcee who writes personal letters for a living.
In a bid to improve his work, Theodore buys an Artificial Intelligence system but quickly finds himself falling in love with it. Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix leads the cast as Theodore, with Scarlett Johansson as the voice of Samantha, the AI tool. The R-rated comedy was written, directed and produced by Spike Jonze, best known for his 1999 cult classic, Being John Malkovich.
Amazon Prime Video subscribers can now tune in to Her at no extra cost. Following its debut, the Jonze feature received wide critical acclaim and earned the filmmaker his first Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, as well as a nomination for the coveted Best Picture prize.
Although Phoenix did not receive an Oscar nomination for his role, it is considered one of his best performances by fans. The drama boasts a near-perfect 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, crowning it the actor's highest-rated film on the platform.
