A WOMAN has been charged with conspiracy to murder after a man was threatened with a firearm that jammed. Aime Betro, 45, was arrested at Gatwick Airport on Thursday after being extradited from Armenia. The US citizen was then transported to the West Midlands, where she was subsequently charged with conspiracy to murder a man in Birmingham six years ago.
Betro has also been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. She faces a third charge in relation to the alleged importation of ammunition into the UK. Betro will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Friday. It comes after an incident in South Yardley, Birmingham, in September 2019.
A man was threatened with a firearm, but was able to escape when the weapon jammed. A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Tonight we are charging a woman with conspiracy to murder a man in Birmingham in 2019, after she was extradited from Armenia.
"US citizen Aimee Betro, aged 45, was flown into Gatwick Airport on Thursday afternoon by specialist National Extradition Unit officers from the National Crime Agency’s (NCA) Joint International Crime Centre (JICC). "Last year, two men were jailed for conspiracy to murder after being convicted at trial.
