Fans were in tears over the touching ending, with one user writing on X/Twitter: "She kept the dog...i knew she was a good un," and another posting: "That was a lovely ending to #Vera glad she took in the dog."
In her final scenes, Vera saved young Chloe from being killed - as she admitted she saw a lot of herself in the young girl.
Away from her personal life, Vera also had to investigate the case, when a body was found at the bottom of some local legendary stones called The Dark Wives.
Not only did she save a life, she gained a companion when a stray dog entered her closed-off life, making it a touching ending to the series.
