Waterloo fire: Blaze breaks out in tunnel near Tube station as line closed and firefighters race to the scene A FIRE has broken out in a tunnel on part of the London Underground.
London Fire Brigade and other emergency crews rushed to the scene after reports of a fire in the Kennington Tunnels on York Road, south east London this morning.
The blaze erupted in the northbound tunnel of the Northern line near Waterloo Station, close to the heart of the city.
Sections of the tunnel were closed as a precaution and people were evacuated from the station.
