A documentary into Wayne Rooney's managerial career has reportedly been scrapped after he was sacked as Plymouth Argyle manager. Plymouth parted company with Rooney by mutually consent on New Year's Eve following a nine match winless run. The results left the club bottom of the Championship table, with Rooney having only overseen four league wins.
Plymouth had agreed for filming to begin in October for a behind the scenes documentary into Rooney's time at the club. The club had been looking to follow the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Sunderland and Wrexham by netting a windfall from a documentary.
The expectation was for the documentary to be streamed in the summer. A documentary on Wayne Rooney's time at Plymouth has been scrapped after his sacking. Makers of 'The Real Wagatha Story' had been behind the documentary project at Plymouth. Plymouth have reportedly now scrapped the plans following the decision to part ways with Rooney, according to the Guardian.
The Championship outfit had allowed for filming to take place at the club's Harpers Park training ground began in October. Footage was also filmed during Plymouth's win at home to Portsmouth and draw away to Derby. Plymouth reportedly told filmmakers to take a break last month amid concerns the documentary was becoming a distraction amid the club's winless run, with the set of results ultimately leading to Rooney's departure.
