West Ham cult hero Ludek Miklosko has revealed he is withdrawing from his treatment for cancer. Miklosko joined the Hammers from Banik Ostrava in February 1990, gingo on to make more than 300 appearances across an eight-year spell at the Hammers, winning two promotions and being named player of the year in 1991.

Arguably his biggest highlight came on the final day of the 1994/1995 season when he held almost single-handedly held out Manchester United to deny them the title. Once his playing days were over, he returned to West Ham as goalkeeping coach. He was also in attendance at the Eden Arena in Prague see the Hammers lift the Europa Conference League trophy in 2023. Now living back in the Czech Republic, he works as sporting director for former club Ostrava.

The 63-year-old will return to West Ham on Sunday afternoon for their clash with Liverpool. Ahead of his visit, Miklosko has shared the heart-breaking news that he has decided to end his treatment for cancer following the discovery of tumors in his hip and stomach.

"I had some radiotherapy, which helped to make it a bit smaller, and we spoke to specialists all around the world about what other options there might be," he told West Ham's club website. “I had an exploratory operation to see if there might be a chance to remove the tumour, but it was impossible and I would not have survived the surgery. After that, it was just a case of trying to control it and seeing if it would grow, or if any other areas were affected.
