West Ham won their first home match under Graham Potter as they held on to beat Fulham 3-2 in a London Stadium thriller. Carlos Soler and Tomas Soucek scored within two minutes of each other to give the Hammers a two-goal advantage at the break. Alex Iwobi scored twice - both of them intended as crosses - either side of a Lucas Paqueta finish to ensure Potter got off to winning ways in the Premier League with his new side.

Dom Smith was at the London Stadium to rate the West Ham players’ performances…. Lukasz Fabianski 4. Should have done better for both of Iwobi’s goals, which were crosses the goalkeeper couldn’t deal with. Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6. Assisted the second goal was a smart pull-back to Soucek. Got himself booked.

Konstantinos Mavropanos 6. Decent display from the Greek centre-back, who patrolled the defence well. Max Kilman 7. His defending was spot on. Almost scored the opener but his header was denied. Then was involved in the second goal with a long ball forward.

Emerson 6. The Italian’s return added valuable experience to the left flank. An important player. Edson Alvarez 6. Lacked energy in the opening period of the game but recovered to produce a busy showing from midfield, including a few gallops forward with the ball.

Guido Rodriguez 6. Made his first start under Potter and acquitted himself well, putting behind him what has been a nightmare first six months in Claret and Blue under Julen Lopetegui. Tomas Soucek 7. Scored a brilliant second goal of the evening for the Hammers. Was booked for a late tackle on Harry Wilson but battled hard.
