Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim admitted he would have handled speculation about his future differently to Marcus Rashford. The aftermath of United's win over Manchester City on Sunday has been dominated by the revelation that Rashford is 'ready for a new challenge'. The attacker made his plans clear in a bombshell interview which was published on Tuesday.
The Englishman had been left out of the squad for the win at City and did not travel with the squad for Thursday's Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham. Given he has made his desire to leave clear, it appears Rashford has played his last game for United.
While he insisted on Wednesday that he wants Rashford to remain at Old Trafford, Amorim did hint that he was unhappy with the attacker. The United boss insisted that if it had been him, he would have spoken to his manager before going public. “If this was me, probably I will speak with the manager. But, guys, let’s focus on Tottenham. Tottenham is the most important thing," he said.
“It’s hard to explain to you guys what I am going to do (when I speak to him). I am a little bit emotional (as a person), so in the moment I will understand what to do. I am preparing the game and then we will see. Let’s focus on the team not individual players. That’s it.
