Luke Littler begins his bid for World Darts Championship glory as he takes on Ryan Meikle on Saturday night. The 17-year-old is favourite to lift the trophy at Alexandra Palace, 12 months on from making his tournament debut and enjoying a stunning run to the final.
Having taken the darts world by storm since then, Littler is expecting to produce more magic over the next fortnight, but first must ensure he will return to Ally Pally after Christmas. Littler will face Meikle in the second round, after the 28-year-old denied fans a potential showdown between the teenager and Fallon Sherrock.
Meikle came from a set down to beat Sherrock 3-1 earlier this week and now faces the ultimate test, as he looks to pull of what would be a huge shock. The winner will take on Ritchie Edhouse or Ian White in the third round. Littler vs Meikle is third up on the order of play for the evening session on Saturday December 21, 2024.
The sessions is set to begin at 7pm GMT, with Danny Noppert taking on Ryan Joyce in the opening match before crowd favourite Raymond van Barneveld goes up against Nick Kenny. Little and Meikle will follow that, meaning they are likely to take to the stage between 8:30pm and 9pm.
