When does Luke Littler play at the World Darts Championship? First match and potential opponent revealed

Luke Littler is back at the PDC World Darts Championship after his sensational run last year – and the date for his first match has already been set. Arriving at Alexandra Palace last year as a largely unknown 16-year-old, Littler became an overnight sensation thanks to his historic run to the final.
Littler may have lost the showpiece match to Luke Humphries, but the teenager has only gone from strength to strength since then. Now already ranked fourth in the world, Littler has won 10 titles in his first year on tour and earned over £1million in prize money in the process.
As he returns to north London for the World Championship, ‘The Nuke’ is the bookies’ favourite to go one better this time around and become the youngest world champion in the sport’s history. With the tournament starting on Sunday, here’s everything you need to know about his first match and who his opponent could be.
Despite the World Championship returning on Sunday, darts fans will have to wait until next weekend to see the return of Littler. The 17-year-old first match at the PDC World Darts Championship 2025 will be played from 7pm on Saturday 21st December 2024.
Due to his ranking, Littler has received a bye into the second round and will play the winner of Ryan Meikle v Fallon Sherrock. Sherrock made history back in 2019 when she became the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Championships. Meikle, meanwhile, did not qualify for last year’s World Championship and has never before got past the second round.
