The comedy star shocked fans when he was seen kissing someone else not long after news of his engagement to Evelyn Hoskins - here's what we know. Evelyn is an English actress best known for her role in Casualty as Shona Wark.

Her other television appearances include her work in the E4 show Misfits where she played the shape-shifter Lucy. She is also featured in Holby City as her Casualty character Shona. Evelyn has a storied stage career, too, making her debut in Spring Awakening at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in 2009.

Whilst little is known about why the pair split, the confirmation that they had taken fans by surprise. Mathew was spotted kissing Norwegian set designer Celina Bassili outside a Burger King in Wales. The pair were working on the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special in 2019.

This came as a shock to fans, who did not know that Matt had split from Evelyn so soon after their proposal announcement in October 2018. Mathew previously sparked rumours that he and Evelyn had already tied the knot back in August 2018, after he sported a ring during an appearance on This Morning.

Matt and Celina tied the knot in a small ceremony in Oslo, Norway. The pair got hitched in September 2021 in the 15-acre grounds of a 1930s mansion. Celina wore an ivory bridal gown with a cowl neckline and voluminous long sleeves. The art designer has worked on several notable projects, including Enola Holmes 2, and Guy Ritchie's The Gentleman and Wrath of Man as as an assistant buyer and a petty cash buyer.
