AUBREY Plaza's husband Jeff Baena was tragically found dead at his Los Angeles home on Friday January 3. Plaza, who starred in Parks and Recreation, married Baena in 2021. Jeff Baena was 47 when he passed away. He was a screenwriter and director who was married to actress Aubrey Plaza, 40.
He was born on June 29, 1977, in Miami, Florida. His directing credits included Life After Beth (2014) and The Little Hours (2017) — both of which featured Plaza. He also directed the 2016 comedy Joshy and the 2020 drama Horse Girl. He co-wrote the Indie film I Heart Huckabees (2004) alongside David O Russell.
Emergency services reportedly received a call from Baena's assistant from a house in the Los Angeles area at around 10:30am on January 3. Baena was pronounced dead at the scene, according to TMZ. Law enforcement reportedly told the outlet that they believe the director died by suicide, but an official cause of death has not yet been released.
Deadline have reported that his loved ones are "devastated" by the shocking news and have asked for privacy whilst they grieve. Plaza broke the news of their union as they prepared to work together in the feature film Spin Me Round. She wrote on Instagram: "So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to italia to cause some more trouble.".
Plaza's post was liked more than 175,000 times in the hours after it was written. Plaza spoke to People magazine about life with Baena during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. She told the publication: "We were quarantined for months and months like everybody else.
