Aubrey Plaza's husband Jeff Baena was reportedly found dead at his Los Angeles home aged 47. Los Angeles police and fire department received a phone call from his assistant on Friday at around 10.30am. The filmmaker was confirmed dead as cops arrived at the LA area home, law enforcement sources told TMZ. The cause of the director's death is still being investigated by authorities.
The family have told Deadline that they are devastated by the heartbreaking news and are asking for privacy at this difficult time. The filmmaker is best known for his films Life After Beth and The Little Hours. Baena was also known for Joshy (2016), Horse Girl (2020), Spin Me Round (2022) and more.
He was born and raised in Miami before he moved to New York to attend film school. He then began his career as a filmmaker in Los Angeles. His directorial debut was with Life After Beth, which he worked on with his wife. When asked about writing and directing the movie, Baena said to Seensome in 2014: "It’s all I ever want to do; it felt really comfortable and fun. I’ve been a writer for twelve years now and it was always a means to an end, I never wanted to be a writer, I wanted to be a director so this was always my intention and it felt right.".
Parks and Recreation star Plaza, who was due to present at the 82nd Golden Globes Awards, married the director in 2021 after being together for a decade. In May of that year, The White Lotus actress casually dropped the news of their marriage in an Instagram post shared with followers.
