Tottenham will be forced to wear their away kit against Arsenal on Wednesday night because of a colour clash with Mikel Arteta ’s side. The ruling comes after Arsenal had to wear their away shirt in September's reverse fixture. And the Premier League and referee governing body PGMOL said that the Gunners’ home kit includes too much white on the reverse of the shirt and that would create a clash with Spurs' traditional home colours.

It is the first time in recent seasons either team has had to change colours for the derby and in September Arsenal said in a statement: “The PGMOL and Premier League ruled that our 2024/25 home kit features too much white, thus clashing with Tottenham ’s traditional colours, even with the option of red shorts and socks for us, which was also discussed.”.

Both teams enter this evening’s derby battling injury problems with Tottenham still without their first choice centre halves and goalkeeper and Arsenal missing three forwards. Spurs have won just one of their past 31 away league fixtures at Arsenal and Ange Postecoglou says he “understands the ramifications” of a result against their neighbours.

Equally he is not paying any heed to the idea that, after Mikel Arteta’s side lost to Newcastle and Manchester United in cup games last week, Spurs could quickly get the Emirates crowd on their own team’s backs. He added: “If we go into the game thinking maybe they're not at it, you fall into a trap of not preparing in the right way. Their form up until the last couple of games has been pretty compelling.”.
