This is set to be the year Grand Theft Auto 6 finally arrives but gamers are starting to wonder if the eagerly awaited release could be pushed back. Although publisher Take-Two Interactive has repeatedly assured players of an autumn 2025 launch, a drought of new information has made some fans panic. Worryingly, it has been over a year since the game’s first (and only) trailer dropped, breaking YouTube records in its wake.

With the clock ticking and no fresh updates, speculation has reached fever pitch. Thankfully, Take-Two may be about to put us out of our misery. The company has announced the date of its next earnings call, where we are almost guaranteed to find out if it will stick or switch from that tentative release date.

Take-Two will release its third quarter financial results on February 6, followed by a call with investors at 4.30pm ET (9.30pm in the UK). A delay would be bad news for a gaming industry that has pinned its hopes on GTA 6 to pull it out of a slump. In the UK, video game revenue fell by 4.4 per cent to £4.6 billion in 2024 as physical game sales crashed and downloads also took a hit.

Faced with slowing growth, companies slashed jobs, and Take-Two was among those cutting staff. While there are plenty of exciting games to look forward to in 2025 (including Fable, Borderlands 4, Mafia 4 and maybe even a new Mario Kart for the Switch 2), GTA 6 is in a league of its own.
