Wolves are close to signing Portuguese defensive midfielder Manu Silva, 23, in a £10million deal from Vitoria SC. Vitor Pereira is looking to continue strengthening his side this January to aid their fight for Premier League survival, with Emmanuel Agbadou already arriving from Reims this month.
The defender went straight into the starting XI for the league clash with Newcastle in midweek, having also played against Bristol City in the FA Cup third round at the weekend. Silva, meanwhile, known as 'Manu', has played 28 times in all competitions for Portuguese side Vitoria SC this season, including in the Conference League.
In total, he has played 50 times for the club since joining them from Feirense in 2023. His arrival would give Wolves some much-needed reinforcements in midfield, with Joao Gomes and Andre currently carrying much of the workload for Pereira's men. Silva has played 25 times in all competitions for Portuguese side Vitoria SC this season. Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is looking to continue strengthening his side in their fight for survival. He could also be a somewhat direct replacement for former captain Mario Lemina, who has asked to leave the club this month.
After asking to be left out of the squad against Newcastle, however, Lemina has since apologised to Pereira and could be involved against Chelsea this weekend. 'Today he came to me, in the morning, he asked to apologise to me and apologise to the team,' Pereira said in his pre-match press conference. 'He said he is ready to do his best for the team until we have a solution and decision.
