A woman has shared a clever hack she uses to save wrapping paper at Christmas. The big day is nearly here, and lots of people will be scrabbling to get their gifts wrapped and laid under the tree before Christmas morning. But with shops closing earlier and festive budgets squeezed, many of us might be reluctant to fork out for a fresh roll of wrapping paper so close to December 25 – especially since it won't be useful again until next year. If you are running low, you may instead want to consider a technique posted to TikTok to wrap any gifts that come in plain boxes using less paper.

In a video, content creator Amy Katherine said: "Wrapping hack: only the front of the gift needs to be wrapped." She then showed the front of the present, which appeared beautifully wrapped, before turning it over and showing a small patch of exposed white box.

"This is for all my last minute gift wrappers like me," she explained in the caption. "One side of the gift has to sit on the floor. Why waste the paper.". However, not everyone was convinced by the hack. One person said: "[If] I had scraps left over I would cover... maybe... but yeah not recutting anything if I don't have to.".

Another joked: "Don’t worry family only a couple rooms need painted in our new house," while a third chimed in: "Technically yes. But leaving it makes me want to die," and a fourth simply said: "No…". It comes after a woman shared the reason she never prepares Christmas Eve boxes for her kids. A woman known as thebudgetingmum on TikTok admitted she's never done Christmas Eve boxes for her children. Instead, she's found a much more financially-friendly alternative.
