A woman has been lauded as a "genius" for her innovative bread storage trick - which she claims helps keep it fresher for an extended period. While many store their loaves in a bread bin for convenient access to sandwiches, toast or soldiers, TikTok user Sammar Charif has introduced a less conventional method. As costs mount at the supermarket, ensuring your bread stays fresh to avoid waste and save money is ever more essential.
Amassing over 3.4 million views on her videos, Sammar revealed that she repurposes her microwave as a spot to store her bread. "People call me a freak when they see that I have bread in the microwave, but listen it keeps it fresh," she posted on her page @sammar_.
She continued by saying: "It lasts twice as long. This [bread] expired like a week and a half ago and there's not a teensy, incy bit of mould." Sammar mentioned it takes her three weeks to get through a loaf because it remains fresh for so long. According to Tesco, a typical loaf of bread generally stays good for about two to three days. Many folks turn to freezing bread to prolong its shelf life, but for those who'd rather not thaw an entire loaf just for a single sandwich, Sammar recommends stashing it in the microwave.
Some viewers of the TikTok also commented that keeping bread in the microwave ensures it's safe from curious pets. One TikTok user spilled the beans on her unusual bread storage hack, saying: "I put mine in the microwave because I don't have a bread box and my dog will eat it if it's on the counter.".
