WITH his hair dyed purple this time, Peter Wright rolled back the years at Ally Pally to deliver a knockout blow at the World Darts Championship. Snakebite destroyed current world champion Luke Humphries to advance to the quarter-finals. It was vintage Wright, 54, who had a bit of needle with the world No1 beforehand who accused him of trying to play mind games.
However, the pair embraced after Sunday night's match - proving there was lots of respect there, and the veteran two-time world champ shed a tear after his famous victory. Over the years, Wright has garnered plenty of attention for his wacky outfits and famous mohawk.
It's a look that's been cultivated by his hairdresser wife, Joanne - who spends two hours a day creating his hairstyle. Wright, who has earned £3million in prize money also has his finances managed by his missus. Incredibly, the millionaire is handed a £212 pay packet per week!.
Although it's Joanne who puts in the hard craft, with extra hold hairspray, to keep that mohawk in place - it was his daughter who put the idea in place to dye it different colours. In an interview in 2013, Wright revealed: "It's down to my daughter because she's the one who has all different colour hair and I thought 'I'll try that'.
“No other dart players have tried it and it just stuck. “I class it as going to war with my war paint on ready for battle.”. "I wanted to find something and I got it in the outfits and the crazy hair. I think the players who whinge about me are jealous.
