Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hinted that he would like to sign his former Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford for AC Milan. But the legendary striker, now working as an advisor to Milan, admits it would be a ‘difficult’ transfer to pull off. Rashford’s time at Old Trafford appears to be all but over having revealed last month that he was ‘ready for a new challenge’, while head coach Ruben Amorim is more than content to sell the England international.
Many clubs around the Premier League and the world are interested in signing the forward, even just on loan, though he has reportedly rejected a big money offer from the Saudi Pro League. Italy would appear to be his most likely destination. Napoli and Como are keen on his services but Milan are the favourites to land the 27-year-old, with his brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, travelling to the Serie A giant for talks.
I Rossoneri have an advantage in the transfer race thanks to the connection between Ibrahimovic and Rashford who were United teammates for two seasons, winning the League Cup and Europa League together in 2017. Reports claimed that the former Sweden international was pushing Milan to get the deal done and he has now confirmed their interest during an interview with Sky Italia.
‘Rashford? I know him very well, I played with him when he was young, he is now an adult and established,’ the Milan, Inter, Barcelona, PSG and United icon said. ‘He did great things with United and today that is his club. How to convince him? Milan is one of the biggest clubs in the world, everyone wants to play here.
