Scott Thomas' brother has revealed the truth behind his decision to quit Love Island All Stars. The reality star appeared on the ongoing series of the ITV2 dating programme and made it no secret during his time in the villa that he was finding it tough. During his time, Scott had struck up a connection with Tina Stinnes, who he first met on the programme back in May 2016. But earlier this month, Scott made the decision to walk out of the South African villa and was not prepared to "force" a romantic connection with any of his co-stars. He is also said to have had doubts over his romance with Tina, with his decision to return home leaving his fellow Islanders "in tears.".
During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Scott's twin, Waterloo Road star Adam said: "He walked out. I think he was in there for three weeks or so. I'm so proud of him, the way he handled himself throughout the villa and the whole series. He's unbelieveable. "He's my twin brother but I look up to him." When prompted over Scott's decision, Adam said: "He was in a relationship and he just wasn't feeling it. I think for shows like that, you're expected to fall in love in two weeks. That's just not going to happen." But anchor Susanna Reid continued to question Adam on whether Scott's age also played a part in his struggle.
Discussing the 36-year-old, Adam continued: "He was in the series when it first started, series two, he was young, he was free, he didn't have that much to lose. He was going in there for a little bit of fun. At 36, you're not looking for a bit of fun, you're looking to settle down.". During his exit interview on the show, Scott told host Maya Jama: "The first time I did this show I had that instant connection with someone, and it made everything so much easier." When asked whether this could have played a part, acknowledging his relationship with Kady McDermott, Scott agreed.
He told Maya: "Yeah, I think I took it for granted the first time round. To find someone you've got that - I call it fireworks. I had a connection with Tina but it wasn’t fireworks, and yeah, it feels like the right decision." During Scott's time in the villa, viewers saw him furiously clash with Luca Bish in a very heated exchange. Scott had confided in Luca that he had no feelings for Tina but asked him to keep this information to himself. But during a tense game, Luca alluded to Scott's lack of connection with Tina as he launched at the Brighton-native during their clash. Speaking to fellow former Love Islanders Indiyah Polack and Amy Hart on their The Morning After podcast he said: "Me and Luca, I don't think you saw it, he was bantering me non stop every day until the point the guys and girls were like 'Why don't you say anything why are you taking it?'.
"I can't really do like, nice banter - you know when you just got a sense that he can give so much banter but he's quite a little fragile soul as well. I was like I don't wanna give him too much banter because I knew I might get a big bite back. I know the Vegas night was a big moment - that was just one snapshot of like a week of like which kind of escalated and escalated." Despite their clash, Scott confirmed he had a "soft spot" for Luca and meant no malice during the incident.
