Armie Hammer has hit out at Louis Theroux after his bombshell interview with the award-winning journalist. In an attempt to discuss - and try and debunk - the serious allegations made him, which derailed his Hollywood career, the Call Me By Your Name star, 38, made some jaw-dropping revelations on Louis' latest podcast. Armie, who is trying to rebuild his career after being accused of adultery, rape - and cannibalism - in recent years, responded to the allegations after a professional grilling from the BBC broadcaster.
However, the dad-of-two and grandson of noted billionaire, Armand Hammer, told Louis he wasn't happy with the way the interview kicked off. Hitting out at the documentarian as their one-on-one wrapped up, he mused: "I wasn't crazy about how the interview started. I'm not keen on drudging all that stuff up because for me a lot of these issues have been resolved, either legally or within myself and I think a lot of those waters have settled.
"I think doing things like that stirs up those waters again unnecessarily. It definitely wasn't my favourite beginning." Softening slightly, he continued: "I'm glad we got past that and got to a place where we could have a civil, normal conversation and that felt good. But drudging all that stuff up, I don't love it.". Telling Armie that he "sensed" his discomfort, Louis pointed out the "jury was still out" regrading the serious allegations made against him.
Sighing deeply, the actor said: "Pick anything the public court has an opinion on and there's a very good chance they won't be informed and there's also a very good chance that they're probably wrong.". Armie was at the height of his fame when he was hit by a series of shocking allegations. In 2021, he was accused of rape and physical abuse - as well as being a cannibal. Having denied the claims made against him after charges of sexual assault were dropped in 2023, the actor is now attempting to rebuild his career and defend himself against what he calls are "people wanting attention".
However, he does admit to having an affair, which ended his marriage to the mum of his two kids, Elizabeth Chambers, because "things weren't going well". Giving his side of the story regarding his infidelity, he says: "You know, I'm certainly not here to air the dirty laundry of my marriage, but it was a classic tale of two people growing over a long course of a long marriage, and I was married for nine years, and I got married when I was 23, 24 years old, very young, and didn't even have a firm sense or understanding of myself.".
Then he addressed the cannibalism claims after texts were released in 2021 following Armie's affair, which showed the actor bragging about "eating the heart of a living animal". When asked by Louis if he is a cannibal, Armie claims the messages were "digitally altered", quipping: "You know what you have to do to actually be a cannibal? You have to actually eat human flesh. So no.". WHATSAPP GROUP: Be first to get the juiciest celebrity news to your phone by joining our Celebs WhatsApp here.
