A parent who has a son at the school told Metro: ‘As a parent I feel like I can not leave my 11-year-old son to walk there and home from now on and my son is very anxious after what has happened. ‘This has left me, my son, and my husband, very shocked and upset. ‘I am shocked and upset this is what happened so close to home and when you just expect a normal school day to finish but then this happens.

‘The school were trying to do all they could under the circumstances and everyone was just in shock and trying their best to do what they could to keep everyone safe. ‘I would hope plenty of safety measures are in place and staff are making sure pupils are feeling safe leaving the school gates from now on.’. Parents of children at the school also spoke to MEN and said they don’t feel comfortable sending their children back.

A mum said her Year 7 son told her pupils were taken to the school’s theatre while the incident unfolded. She said: ‘I said to him do not leave the school grounds, I will come and get you. ‘I won’t be sending my son in tomorrow and I don’t know if I will be for the rest of the week, or if I’ll be looking for a new school for him. It’s absolutely terrifying.’. Another mum shared the video and was asked to remove it but she said: ‘I haven’t because people have got a right to know that their kids are safe when they go to school and clearly they’re not.

‘I’ve told school that I won’t be sending my daughter to school until I know what precautions have been put in place to keep our children safe.’. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: ‘Officers were called to a school on Reddish Vale Road in Stockport at around 3:10pm (Monday 10 February 2025) following reports of a person with a knife on the premises. ‘Thankfully, no one sustained any serious injuries.

‘A 12-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article. He has been taken into police custody.’. The boy has been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester and Salford Youth Court today. People living in Reddish have been told that there will be ‘additional patrols’ in the area. Chief Inspector John Picton reassured residents and said: ‘Whilst we do believe that this was an isolated incident, additional patrols have been deployed to the area to offer reassurance to the local community. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to them.’.

A spokesperson for Stockport Borough Council said: ‘We are aware of the distressing incident that took place at Reddish Vale School and we understand the concerns being shared by parents, students, and the wider community. ‘The police were on site to deal with the incident and make the school safe and we are thankful no one was harmed. ‘We are working closely with the school to support them and want to reassure everyone that the safety of pupils and teachers is our highest priority.’.
