Hotels love 35p ingredient that will get your towels fluffier than ever

Your towels may have become scratchy and unpleasant to use, but laundry expert Deyan Dimitrov from Laundryheap has revealed a simple kitchen cupboard hack to revive them. It's all about what you add to the wash. He advises that hard water, too much detergent or fabric softener, over-drying, and cramming the machine can stiffen fabrics.
To combat this, the cleaning whiz has singled out baking soda and white vinegar as your go-to softening agents. Deyan Dimitrov says, "Both common household ingredients can be used separately as ways to transform tough towels into soft ones." For those looking to infuse new life into their towels, he suggests: "Simply add 250ml of white vinegar to the washing machine drum alongside the liquid detergent you normally use and dry as normal.".
If you fancy using bicarbonate of soda instead, our laundry guru offers another top tip: "Mix eight tablespoons of baking soda with your laundry detergent before putting it in the washing machine." He assures that these tricks will not only soften but cleanse your towels, asserting, "This will help loosen up the towel fibres and get rid of any dirt, keeping your towels as good as new.", reports the Express.
Dispel any fears you have of your bathroom linens reeking of vinegar; the laundry boss confirms that towels won't retain the vinegary smell after washing. And for those penny-savers among us, white distilled vinegar is budget-friendly you can snap it up for a mere 35p at supermarkets like Tesco, and it's even a secret weapon for hotel housekeeping.
