Mick Jagger's eight-year-old son has been taken to hospital after suffering a nasty accident playing football. The Rolling Stones icon, 81, shares son Deveraux Octavian Basil with girlfriend Melanie Hamrick. She admitted she is "hurting" seeing her son in pain. Deveraux suffered an accident playing football that has seen his leg wrapped up in a blue plaster cast. Melanie, who has been with Mick since 2014, said: "Nothing feel more true- When they hurt you hurt (crying emoji).

"He'll be back playing football again in no time though!!" Deveraux, who is nicknamed Devi, walked on a pair of crutches as he made his way through the hospital. Melanie rarely posts about her music legend partner, but does share updates on their son and her dancing.

Mick has eight children and is father to Karis, 54, Jade, 53, Lizzie, 40, James, 39, Georgia May, 33, and Gabriel, 27, Lucas, 25 and Deveraux. Devi was born in 2016, as his parents admitted they were "surprised and happy" at Melanie's pregnancy. The singer is also a great-grandfather after his granddaughter Assisi Jackson gave birth to a baby girl in 2021.

Melanie met Mick when The Rolling Stones were on tour in Tokyo. They didn't go official with their relationship until Mick invited the dancer to join him for his band's stop in Zurich. Announcing Deveraux "Devi" Octavian Basil Jagger's arrival, their representative said: "Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger's son was born today in New York and they are both delighted. Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well." Octavian means 'born eighth' in Latin, while Basil was the first name of Mick's late father, who died in 2006.

Deveraux has already expressed an interest in music and dance just like his parents. He's even been spotted supporting his dad at concerts and at the ballet with his mum. "He dances a ton," Melanie told The New York Times of her son in 2019. "I don't have him in classes yet. He plays the ukulele and makes up songs. He's got the gene.".

Back in 2022, Deveraux showed off his dance moves as he mirrored his famous father backstage at the Rolling Stones gig in Liverpool. In a cute clip uploaded to Melanie's Instagram, Deveraux rocked out in a Rolling Stones T-shirt, skinny jeans and a face covering as dad Mick entertained the crowd. "Vibes," mum Melanie captioned the clip as Mick could be heard belting out You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

Melanie, who is a former ballerina, has branched out into writing as she has publish a series of saucy novels. She released her first book First Position last year, which was described as a 'ballet bonkbuster'. Mick was the one who encouraged Melanie to start writing and has thrown support behind her ever since. He has even helped her with choosing the right words for her work. Speaking to The Times, Melanie said: "Thrusting, throbbing, pulsating. Just go to the thesaurus. That's what Mick said - he's, like, 'Throbbing was used a lot in book two.''.
