Call the Midwife star Helen George has gone official with her new man after splitting from her previous actor husband and partner. The actress - who plays Nurse Trixie Franklyn in the BBC show - has been open to love since her split from co-star Jack Ashton in 2023, and even signed up to an exclusive dating app to see if the right man might come along. Now, it seems Helen, 40, may have found her Prince Charming, proudly showing off a romantic Valentine’s Day date on Instagram.
Helen tagged her new man, Dan Innes, in her posts, with the real estate marketer describing in his bio: “Future thinker, architecturally inquisitive, marine + mountainous, health + moderation, national + Atlantic oarsman, possible viking.” Dan grew up in Wales and married Kate Wetton in 2008, with whom he shares two children aged 14 and 12, with he and Kate splitting in 2016, according to The Sun.
Helen snapped a photo of her date with Dan at The Waterman Arms in Barnes, capturing a table laden with food and gushing: “The most delicious Valentine's over-ordering. Hearts and stomachs full @daninnes @thewatermans.arms.”. Dan also shared some mementos of the night, taking a romantic image of candles and writing: “Thank you for saving us a table and making us the off-menu lemondrop martinis.” He later shared a photo of Helen standing from the table in a furry coat, and smiling widely while clutching a wine bottle. “Can I get this to go please? #yesyesyes” he wrote alongside the snap.
Helen was previously married to actor Oliver Boot from 2011 to 2015, but split with him just weeks before joining Strictly Come Dancing. She then began dating Jack Ashton, after Jack joined the cast as vicar Tom Hereward. Their daughter Wren was born in 2017, and their youngest, Lark was born in 2021.
In July 2023, the couple stunned fans by announcing they were splitting some seven years after meeting on the set of the show. In a statement at the time, Helen told the Mirror: "Some months ago, we separated. Our two beautiful girls remain the focus and I respectfully ask for privacy for this next chapter.".
After a while focusing on her career and family, Helen then seemed to get back into the dating game last year, and made a profile on exclusive dating app Raya. On her profile, which was added in August and is linked to her Instagram, Helen describes herself as an actor whose interests are hotels, restaurants and bars, meditation, theatre, travel, dogs and antiques.
A source said of her search for love: “Helen joined Raya with the encouragement of her friends, and is hoping to meet someone she really clicks with. But she is incredibly happy at the moment, so she is not putting any pressure on it at all. As far as she’s concerned, a relationship would be a bonus if the right person came along.”.
