Kids' birthday parties are often rife with chaos, but this one may have taken the cake. The parents of one birthday girl sparked mass outrage after inviting her friends to a party at Build-A-Bear - but then keeping all the bears made by the guests. The story, which was originally shared to Reddit, recently went viral on TikTok with furious users chiming in with their thoughts. TikTok user Unplugged Moments, who often shares wild stories she finds on Reddit, delved into a story about the controversial kid's party, explaining it was originally posted by an aunt who was taking her seven-year-old niece to attend.

'The plan is, meet at the food court at the mall, have lunch, then go down to Build-A-Bear, and afterwards, meet at the birthday girl's house for cake and ice cream,' she shared. Labeling the party as 'pretty straightforward,' the woman picked up her niece and took her to mall. 'Mind you,' the woman explained. 'They did not book a party through Build-A-Bear, it was just as a regular customer coming in.'.

She explained there were eight kids at the party, including the birthday girl, but as it wasn't booked as a party there was no host dedicated to helping them. One birthday girl's parent's sparked mass outrage, after inviting children to a birthday party at Build-A-Bear - but controversially, kept the bears made by the guests. 'On the invite, it said, [every] child will be able to build a Build-A-Bear,' she explained. 'So I told my niece, "let's be mindful, keep it at $35, and then anything else aunty will chip in for at my own expense."'.

The party had been going smoothly, and the mom of the birthday girl paid for everything, with the aunt noting she paid for anything extra her niece purchased. The group left the store and took a photo with their creations - which is when things started to go downhill. '[After the picture the mom said] "Okay, thank you everyone, but if you could now hand your bear over the Sarah, thank you so much for building a personal bear so that Sarah can remember you by,"' the woman recounted.

Recalling that everyone at the party was visibly shocked by this, the woman admitted she didn't know whether she was entitled to think the kids would be keeping the bear. 'I may be in the wrong but then I looked up the invite again and [it] didn't say anything, so I just assumed [the kids would keep the bears],' she explained, adding they had said there were goody bags at the house so she thought maybe they would put the bears in there.

'We get to the house and we hand the mom Sarah's gift, we sing happy birthday, birthday cake, have ice cream - then it's "game time,"' she recalls. 'Game time,' as it turns out was watching the girl play with the bears the other children had made. Recalling that everyone at the party was visibly shocked by this, the woman admitted she didn't know whether she was entitled to think the kids would be keeping the bear.

'[At this point] I tapped the mom on the shoulder, and said, "sorry, maybe I have a misunderstanding, on the invite it said the kids were able to build a bear?"' the woman recalled. 'She said, "yes, build a bear for Sarah to keep,"' the mom replied. The woman told her she assumed the guests were keeping the bear, so she spent extra money on her creation. In response, the mom said she can 'look into' getting the bear 'back for her,' to which the woman replied saying it was fine and decided to leave the party, with the other moms and kids following suit.

The aunt ended up taking her niece back to Build-A-Bear to build her own bear, saying she wanted her to have her own memento from the day. 'If ya'll gonna do that can you please put  "every child will be able to build a bear at their own cost" - I would have been fine with that,' she said. The story went viral online, with many users sharing their thoughts about the story. 'Nope that Build-A-Bear and my $35 dollars worth of accessories is coming home with me!' one user declared.
