WITH hair as long as mine, finding products that keep it shiny and healthy can be difficult - and expensive. So when I found out that Aldi had launched new dupes of a brand loved by Selena Gomez and Rihanna for less than a fiver, I knew I had to try them. The Lacura HR Hair Repair Leave-in Conditioning Mask hit the supermarket chain's middle aisle last weekend. Priced at just £4.99 for 50ml, it works out as £65.01 cheaper than high-end brand K18's version.
So if you want your hair to look glossy and healthy but without spending a fortune, you’ve come to the right place. Because let me tell you, it works. I usually rely on Redken colour gloss shampoo and conditioner, followed by Colour Wow dream coat spray to give my locks an instant boost. But this week I traded in my normal conditioner for Aldi's new offering. I massaged in three pumps of the creamy mask to my hair and let it work its magic.
And it was a treat getting to skip the rinse, simply leaving the product to soak into my towel-dried hair for five minutes before detangling. With 28-inch locks, I'm used to brushing out lots of tugs once my hair is towel dried. However, this time, my brush mostly glided through my hair. Sadly, it didn't cut down on the drying time - one of the jobs that makes me loath to wash my hair more than once a week. But that would be expecting miracles, and I'm not holding a £4.99 product to that!.
The luxurious, leave-in treatment did, however, make my hair feel instantly hydrated and even reduced the appearance of frizz. I could also notice that it was sleeker and smoother with a visible shine. Supermarket bosses further promise that the hair mask "strengthens each strand, minimising split ends and visible damage" - something I look forward to noticing with continued use. I followed up my new leave-in mask routine with another Aldi dupe - the brand new 30ml hair repair oil, also priced at £4.99.
This works out as £60.01 cheaper than the pricier K18 option. The oil elixir promises to weightlessly smooth and soften hair, banishing frizz and increasing radiant shine. Its potent ingredient blend locks in moisture, repairs split ends, and visibly mends damage. And I can definitely say it gave my hair a boost. I rubbed three drops of the oil into my hands before running it through the ends of my dry hair, up to the middle.
