The former sportsman dated Flack, 40, until May 2019 and the pair remained in contact before her death on February 15, 2020. He revealed that the former Love Island left him with a ‘gift’ after her death, as he was able to get in touch with his emotions for the first ever time.

‘Caroline Flack’s death was one of the toughest moments for me. I was devastated. I spoke to my team-mates for an hour. ‘I was crying. I stood up at the front and told everyone what I felt shameful about and all the things I was trying to hide, because we all share our pain.

He then added in the interview with The Times: ‘The gift she gave me was having to dive into my emotions in a way I hadn’t before. I hadn’t really cried or felt visceral feelings before.’. This isn’t the first time Cipriani has spoken about his ‘intense’ grief due to Flack’s death, who he was texting with just the day before she died.
In 2021, he told Sportsmail: ‘It was a challenging year. I was grieving for my friend and we had a week off, so I went to LA, then COVID hit. ‘I couldn’t get back and I was there for three months. It’s obviously a beautiful place to be but I hadn’t been there for three months before and I was going through that [grieving].
