Peter Andre had made plans to adopt Harvey Price, but his biological father, Dwight Yorke, wasn't happy about it. Former glamour model Katie Price fell pregnant with her first child in 2001, while briefly dating international and Premier League footballer Dwight, but their relationship was short-lived. She found out Dwight had allegedly cheated on her while on a lingerie photoshoot and called their brief romance off.
The two warring exes endured a rocky relationship throughout the rest of her pregnancy, with Dwight denying being their son's father until a paternity test proved otherwise. He put his name on the birth certificate, but visits to see Harvey, who has septo-optic dysplasia, autism and Prader-Willi syndrome, came few and far between.
Explaining why he was distant from Harvey, Dwight admitted: "It is a combination of different things, one my time schedule and being based up in Manchester and a footballer on an everyday basis. Not sitting here and saying I'm a total perfect father, I've made mistakes along the way and I would love to turn the clock back.".
But with Dwight spending little time with his son, Katie's new husband, Peter Andre, became a father figure in Harvey's life. Dwight wasn't happy about it and said he wanted to "throttle" him. "When I met Andre I wanted to throttle him. I'm not a violent man and it takes an awful lot to rile me. But this man got under my skin at the outset. No way would I ever, ever, allow Harvey to be adopted by him," he wrote in his book, Born to Score.
