EastEnders' 40th anniversary episodes kicked off on Monday night, and fans are one step closer to finding out who attacked Cindy Beale. However, they think they've 'worked it out' already - and they predict it comes with a surprise return to the Square. Monday night's episode ended on the ultimate cliff hanger, with Cindy pointing Phil's gun towards someone holding her locket in the Beale household.
When Cindy was left for dead her locket, containing a photo of her late daughter Lucy Beale, was seemingly stolen. Recently, she's been on the hunt for the locket, suspecting that whoever has it is the one who attacked her. Throughout the episode, Cindy had been accusing Ian of being the one to strike the almost fatal blow on Christmas Day - as he continued to deny it. "You!" she could be heard shouting as she pointed the gun. As the episode ended, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their theories. Many were convinced it was Peter - although others thought it was a different Beale all together.

Bobby was seen exiting the soap at the end of last year after actor Clay Milner Russell announced he would be leaving the soap in April. In the soap, Bobby was left devastated after discovering his girlfriend Anna was cheating on him with his best friend Freddie while pregnant.
After discovering Anna had gotten an abortion and had confessed her love for Freddie, played by Bobby Brazier, Bobby decided enough was enough and packed his bags. Before exiting, Bobby visited the grave of his sister, Lucy Beale one last time, before being picked up by his mum Jane, as they returned to the Cotswolds. In 2015, it was revealed that Bobby killed his sister Lucy in a fit of rage - but did he return to attack Cindy?.
