EastEnders star Lacey Turner's husband was 'bursting with pride' as he praised her performance on last night's episode. On February 20, viewers tuned into the BBC One soap opera's live episode to celebrate their 40th anniversary which came with some dramatic twists. Over the past few days, fans have seen the 'who dunnit' story involving Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) finally come to an end with Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) revealing she was Cindy's mystery attacker.
Soap bosses had big plans for the special episodes, with killer Reiss Colwell returning to the Square. During his escape, he drove into the Queen Vic - leading to the pub bursting into flames. Viewers were in awe as Martin Fowler ( James Bye ) risked his life to save his ex-wife Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) from the crumbling building, they were dealt a blow just moments after Martin cleared a path for them to escape.
Stacey wouldn't leave until they aired out their feelings but, as she held the door closed, a metal beam fell and crushed Martin's legs. Paramedics told her he would die due to suffering from crushed syndrome, meaning that his body would go into kidney failure and result in cardiac arrest. Stacey's worst nightmare came true as she let out a toe-curling scream which could be heard across Walford.
Following the actress's performance, Lacey's husband took to his page to share his pride for her. "I am absolutely bursting with pride for my wife and the incredible job she did at work this evening," he wrote on social media. "Her dedication and hard work shone through as she tackled an extremely tough challenge with grace and determination, especially considering she only just gave birth five weeks ago.
"I mean come on! Watching her collaborate with her co-workers and ultimately achieve her goals was nothing short of inspiring. She consistently goes above and beyond, and her passion for what she does is evident in every project she undertakes. I am so grateful to have such an amazing partner by my side, and I can't help but admire her strength and resilience. She truly is incredible!".
On January 17, Lacey revealed she welcomed her third child with husband Matt. At the time, she shared an adorable photo of her two older children kissing the baby as she wrote: "Our hearts are full.". Lacey and Matt, who wed in 2017, are already parents to five-year-old Dusty and Trilby, three, and were very excited ahead of the newborn's arrival. In September, Lacey posted a photo of the family holding onto a pregnancy scan.
